Chemical Peels & Microneedling Aren’t as Scary as You Think

If you’ve been put off by the name, you’re not alone.
When people hear the words chemical peel or microneedling, they often imagine painful treatments, red peeling skin or weeks hiding indoors.
The reality is usually very different.
Modern professional skin treatments are highly controlled and are tailored to your skin, your concerns and your lifestyle. They don’t have to be aggressive to deliver great results.
What is a chemical peel?
Despite the name, a chemical peel isn’t about “burning” your skin.
Professional peels use carefully selected acids to encourage your skin to shed dull, damaged surface cells and stimulate healthy new skin underneath.
The strength of the peel can be adjusted depending on your skin type and what we’re treating.
Many people experience little more than a slight tingling sensation during treatment and some mild flaking afterwards—if any at all.
What is microneedling?
Microneedling uses tiny sterile needles to create controlled micro-channels in the skin.
That sounds intimidating, but these tiny channels trigger your body’s natural healing response, encouraging the production of collagen and elastin.
The treatment is performed with a professional device and a topical anaesthetic can be used if appropriate, making it much more comfortable than many people expect.
Most clients describe it as feeling unusual rather than painful.
You don’t have to choose an aggressive treatment
One of the biggest misconceptions is that you need your skin to peel dramatically or be bright red for days for a treatment to work.
That’s simply not true.
The best treatment is the one that’s appropriate for your skin, not the strongest one available.
Healthy skin improves through consistency, not punishment.
What can these treatments help with?
Depending on your skin and goals, microneedling and chemical peels can help improve:
Fine lines and wrinkles
Uneven skin tone
Sun damage
Acne scarring
Active acne
Enlarged pores
Dull, tired-looking skin
Pigmentation
Skin texture
Overall skin radiance
Every skin is different
Before recommending any treatment, I carry out a consultation to understand your skin concerns, medical history and expectations.
Sometimes a gentle chemical peel is the best option.
Sometimes microneedling is more suitable.
Sometimes the right advice is to wait or improve your skincare first.
There isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach.
Thinking about improving your skin?
You don’t need to know which treatment you need before booking.
That’s my job.

We’ll discuss your concerns, assess your skin and create a treatment plan that’s right for you—not simply the most intensive treatment available.
