Why screening matters
Moles and pigmented lesions should not be treated routinely without appropriate assessment. Screening helps identify whether a lesion appears suitable for removal, or whether further medical review is needed

Map My Mole is a screening service, not a diagnosis, but it is a valuable step in making safe decisions about skin lesions

How the process works
A set of clinical images is taken during your appointment and submitted securely to Map My Mole. The case is reviewed by a consultant dermatologist, and a report is returned with clear guidance on next steps

If the lesion requires further assessment, you will be advised to contact your GP or specialist

Using Map My Mole alongside cryotherapy
If you are considering cryotherapy for a mole or pigmented lesion, screening must take place first. Cryotherapy is only carried out when it is clinically appropriate and safe to do so

Skin tags, warts and verrucas do not usually require Map My Mole screening and can often be assessed and treated directly where appropriate. Find out more about our Cryotherapy service here
